Windows Vista and the Windows key - some new key combinations

The title tells it all: time to have some new Windows key combinations in Windows Vista. An overview:

  • New in Windows Vista
    • Win-X - Windows Mobility Center (laptop users will like this one!)
    • Win-U - Ease of Access Center
    • Win-T - Puts focus on the taskbar; shows the little live thumbnail preview of the current window; then you can use the arrows to see little live thumbnail previews of the various windows on the taskbar and press ENTER to activate a window
    • Win-Space - Brings the Windows Sidebar on top
    • Win-1, Win-2, Win-3, ... - Executes Quick Launch toolbar items
  • Changed behavior in Windows Vista
    • Win-D - Toggles between showing the desktop (sidebar disappears too if it's not always on top) and restoring windows
    • Win-M - Minimizes all windows but keeps the sidebar visible; use SHIFT-Win-M to restore the windows
    • Win-TAB - Flip-3D feature to visualize open windows in a cute 3D fashion; press CTRL-Win-TAB to block the 3D representation and use the arrows to select a window and activate it with ENTER (use ESC to leave flip-3D)
    • ALT-TAB - As usual to switch between windows, but with live thumbnail previews; press CTRL-ALT-TAB to block the ALT-TAB window and use the arrows to select a window and activate it with ENTER (use ESC to leave the ALT-TAB window)
  • Old friends
    • Win - Activates the start menu with focus in the search textbox
    • Win-F - Opens search (or better: Search Results) with focus in the search textbox
    • CTRL-Win-F - Find computer
    • Win-F1 - Opens Windows Help and Support
    • Win-E - Opens Windows Explorer
    • Win-R - Opens the Run dialog
    • Win-L - Locks the current user's desktop ("Lock Computer")
    • Win-Pause/Break - Opens the System "dialog
    • CTRL-SHIFT-ESCAPE - Opens Windows Task Manager

Did I miss one? Let me know!

Enjoy!

Small correction: Win+U is not a new shortcut, it also works in Windows XP (I think also in Windows 2000) It brings up the utility manager to start/stop usability stuff

Thanks Bert for the feedback. Luckily I don't need these kind of utilities for usability so I didn't try these out on earlier OS releases. However, last night I tried out virtually any combination and discovered this one I didn't know of.
